DON’T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB! Capital Celebs to Reveal ‘Hidden Talents’ at NAC’s Fourth Stage Wednesday, February 27th 6-9 pm

Capital personalities will be stepping into the spotlight to reveal their ‘Hidden Talents’ OFF OFF Elgin Street at the NAC’s Fourth Stage Wednesday February 27th for the Magnetic North Theatre Festival’s inaugural fundraiser “Don’t Quit Your Day Job!”. “We’re thrilled to have amazing actor Pierre Brault emceeing our event and an impressive line-up of ‘Magnetic’ personalities stepping out of all kinds of ‘day jobs’ to perform for our judges and audience,” says the festival’s Artistic Director Brenda Leadlay. Already confirmed in the line-up are: Green Party of Canada Leader Elizabeth May, CBC news anchor Lucy van Oldenbarneveld and All in A Day Radio host Alan Neal, Jer’s Vision founder Jeremy Dias, National Capital Commission Board Chair Russell Mills, Kitchissippi Ward Councillor Katherine Hobbs, Community Foundation of Ottawa President & CEO Barabara McInnes, restaurateur Stephen Beckta, NAC English Theatre Artistic Director Jillian Keiley and Ottawa arts supporter Barbara Crook. The ‘judges’ panel includes Ottawa Citizen arts writer Lynn Saxberg and GCTC Artistic Director Eric Coates. “I think there will be some real surprises when our performers unveil their hidden talents,” says Leadlay. “We expect our judges will be gentle in their commentary and everyone will have some laughs to share.” The cabaret-style evening will also include fine food & drink sampling and a live & silent auction. Magnetic North Theatre Festival is Canada’s national festival of contemporary English theatre. It alternates between Ottawa and other Canadian cities every year. The 2013 festival is back in Ottawa from June 7-15. The festival line-up will be announced at a launch event, Tuesday March 19th at the NAC Fourth Stage. The festival is produced by the Canadian Theatre Festival Society and co-presented by the National Arts Centre English Theatre.
