ArohaFest Diwale Royale: A showcase of arts, culture and traditions of India

ArohaFest Diwali Royale is the only fully bilingual festival showcasing the arts and culture of India in Canada, while also highlighting the age-old tradions of Diwali. From October 14 to 19, 2024, ArohaFest will bring to the National Arts Centre , a variety of pop-up performances and workshops showcasing classical, folk, and, Bollywood dance, as well as the semi-classical music of India. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, experience a royal soirée in the enchating world of Kathak dance during “Darbar Kathak”; produced by renowned dancer and choreographer, Anjali Patil. Additionally, the festival will feature henna painting, a rangoli community mural, a visual arts exhibit, as well as a Bollywood dance party. About Aroha Fine Arts

Founded in 2005 by acclaimed classical Indian dancer Anjali Patil in Ottawa, Canada, Aroha Fine Arts (AFA) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to excellence in professional classical Indian arts and culture.

AFA mission includes:

  • Strengthening communities by sharing knowledge and experiences of the arts and culture of India in Canada through its annual ArohaFest festival.

  • Creation, production and presentation of works based on Kathak dance.

  • Education and training in professional and pre-professional Kathak dance.

To date, AFA has created 12 original works generating opportunities for over 500 local and international professional artists, with the support of 150 volunteers. Some of these works have received rave reviews and toured prestigious festivals such as Canada Dance Festival and Pune Festival, India.

In 2017, AFA marked Canada’s 150th birthday by launching ArohaFest, the first fully bilingual festival celebrating the arts of India in Canada. In the past eight editions, 450 artists performed and presented workshops and demonstrations to sold out audiences at the National Arts Centre, the Shenkman Arts Centre and over 100,000 viewers on Facebook Live. This year, over 60 artists are set to dazzle ArohaFest Diwali Royale, 2024.
