Wakefield Doc Fest

The 11th Annual Wakefield Doc Fest gets underway Feb 7th for an every-weekend-for-four-weeks extravaganza of excellent documentary film. And, as always, we're filling up the schedule with director visits, panel discussions and exceptional events – like parties!

Each of the four weekends has a theme this year and, as always, we start off with Québec films. Opening weekend All Québec, All the Time shows off some of the vitality of Québec film. The second, Overdrive, celebrates tenacity and a little of the craziness of the competitive spirit. Weekend three's The Good Fight charts the battle for truth and justice in very different ways. And our final weekend, The Play's the Thing, offers two exceptional films with the rich experience of theatre at their core. As always, we'll have lots of value-added experiences for our audiences: filmmaker visits, panel discussions, Q&As, and, of course, plenty of socializing with after-film events, delicious food and great music. While we continue to add to our roster of guests and events, there's plenty already to which one can look forward. Opening weekend, Stacey Tenenbaum will be with us in person to head a Q&A after the screenings of her film, PIPE DREAMS. Opening night, hors d'oeuvres will be provided by the Wakefield Mill and Saturday evening, Nikosi will provide the nibblies. Julien Élie will 'visit' by Skype from Mexico for Q&A after the screenings of his film, DARK SUNS. And the other weekends follow in like form, with visitors in person or by Skype (some from great distances!), a panel discussion and parties sprinkled throughout. Single tickets are $15, including tax. A weekend pass is $25 and includes 10% discount at some local eateries. A fest pass is $100, with the same 10% offered.
