Position: OM2 – Events and Logistics Assistant– Ottawa Music Industry Coalition
Contract Length: 26 Weeks. Anticipated Start Date: May 4, 2026 End Date: October 30, 2026
Work Schedule: 4 business days per week (32 hours) Location: Sparks St + some hybrid availability
Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see eligibility details below). Reporting to the Program Manager and Events Manager this role is ideal for someone passionate about event coordination, live music, and community arts engagement. The Events and Logistics assistant will help run logistics for concerts and activations across the city, assist with marketing and social media, support registration and advancing workflows, and contribute to the planning and execution of Capital Music Week (CxMW) as well as other seasonal OMIC programs.
Responsibilities:
Event & Programming Support
Assist the Program Manager in coordinating and delivering summer music programming (City Sounds Live, Songs from the Shed, Live from the Booth and others).
Support onsite logistics for live music events, including artist coordination, equipment needs, schedules, site plans, and audience engagement.
Assist the CxMW Events Manager with tasks such as registration management, advancing artists and partners, logistics tracking, and schedule/planner updates.
Conduct research and prepare programming documents, schedules, checklists, and event briefs.
Marketing, Communications & Social Media
Support OMIC’s communications activities by helping draft posts, capture content onsite, schedule social media updates, and assist with newsletter content.
Help maintain website updates related to programming, events, deadlines, and opportunities.
Assist with promotional campaigns for summer programming and Capital Music Week.
Administrative & Operational Support
Support the Program Manager and operations team with record-keeping, updating databases, preparing correspondence, and managing registration lists.
Communicate professionally with artists, partners, and community stakeholders.
Provide general office support when required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and an interest in digital storytelling.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Passion for Ottawa’s music ecosystem and curiosity about live events and community programming.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
A resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
Established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 gross per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
