About the Role

POSITION: Festival Coordinator – Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival - NEW

CONTRACT TERM: 26 Weeks  START DATE: August 3, 2026  END DATE: After 26 weeks

WORK SCHEDULE:  4 business days / 32 hours per week WORK LOCATION:  Hybrid & 2 Daly Ave. Office (2 days minimum)

SUMMARY:  This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). This position reports to the  Festival Manager and Chair of the Board and supports the festival’s year-round programming and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with the Festival Manager and Programmers to support live professional development programming and screenings.

  • Works closely with the Festival Manager, Board of Directors and Programmers to communicate clearly with Ottawa film and television industry leaders concerning schedules, travel and event needs as they evolve.

  • Coordinates the technical needs of the venues, professional development programs, screenings and partner programming.

  • Coordinates social, networking and industry events for Ottawa Filmmakers, including booking venues, catering and speakers, along with other requirements as needed.

  • Works with the Technical and Mentorship Directors to coordinate runs-of-show, create playlists and schedules.

  • Communicates with mentorship program instructors, teachers and mentees to ensure timelines and deliverables are met within the mentorship program parameters as needed.

  • Supports the Festival Manager and programmers with on-site event support during live events, including event logistics for kick-off, festival launch, filmmaker socials and festival screenings.

  • Coordinates and participates in daily team meetings, provides weekly updates to programmers and board, and coordinates or supports practicum student activities.

  • Liaises or outreaches to festival partners and sponsors, communicating via email or phone, supporting meetings with VIPs as needed.

  • Creates, disseminates, and collects the festival feedback from industry partners, speakers and sponsors.

  • Backs up and supports the Festival Manager with collecting invoices, disseminating AP and AR priorities.

  • Supports or works in conjunction with Social Media & Festival Assistant by developing blog posts, direct filmmaker communiques or other email outreach resources, as needed.

  • Attends team meetings or events in an engaged way.

  • Meets regularly with the festival team and festival board to organize priorities and give feedback.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with Google Business Suite and project management tools (like Asana)

  • Technical event experience in festivals, screenings or live theatre environments a strong asset

  • Technically savvy with knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve or other post-production software is a strong asset

  • Strong understanding or lived experience of equity-deserving communities and artists Ottawa, and an understanding of the 50-30 Challenge is a strong asset.

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly in remote or hybrid work environments

  • Well-organized, works well under pressure and independently if needed, takes on projects simultaneously and autonomously.

  • A people person who is positive, responsible, respectful, and enthusiastic

  • Excellent oral skills in English; French is a strong asset.

  • Experience in arts administration, festival or event management, or the arts and culture sector would be considered a strong asset.

  • Passionate about Ottawa’s independent filmmaking community is an asset.

Additional Qualifications Required:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:

  1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.

  2. A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.

  3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:

  4. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.

  5. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.

  6. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years

NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.

Remuneration:

$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
