About the Role
Position: CA1 – Festival Administrator – Capital Pride
Desired Contract Length: 26 Weeks Start Date: March 9th, 2026 End Date: Initial term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 31, 2026. Additional weeks pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2026-2027) JCP program agreement with the Province of Ontario.

Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). Capital Pride is seeking a Festival Administrator to support the planning and execution of the 2026 Capital Pride Festival. Our ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, able to tackle various logistical projects, and works well as part of a small team. Most importantly, they are eager to help organize our annual summer festival, one of the top five largest Pride Festivals in Canada.
Responsibilities:
Festival Administration
Manage registration for festival events (Street Festival, Pride Parade, Pride Guide Ads),
Maintain Community Events Calendar,
Support Pride Guide creation,
Assist with volunteer program and sponsorship coordination including tracking and reporting.
Logistics and Planning
Coordinate meetings and office operations,
Monitor communications channels,
Assist with artist logistics (travel, accommodation, contracts),
Manage supplies and equipment,
Provide administrative support for the 2026 festival.
Events
Oversee event setup/teardown and operations,
serve as primary contact for stakeholders/vendors,
attend promotional events and volunteer recruitment activities,
manage ticketing and guest lists.
Other Prepare end-of-summer report on accomplishments and recommendations, support Operations Team with general tasks.
Skills and Qualifications:
Fluent English (French an asset),
proficiency with Google Workspace or equivalent (especially Sheets),
knowledge of/experience with 2SLGBTQ+ community,
volunteer event planning experience,
public speaking and outreach skills,
detail-oriented and organized,
able to handle high-stress situations with good judgment.
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 (gross) per week provided by the Province of Ontario ($22.00 based on 32 hours per week).
