Position: AB1 - Volunteer Coordinator – Ottawa International Animation Film Festival
Desired Contract Term: 26 Weeks Start Date: May 18, 2026 End Date: November 13, 2026
Work Schedule: 4 business days / 32 hours per week in office Work Location: Arts Court, 2 Daly Ave
Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the leading events of its kind in the world. It's an annual five-day event with a total attendance of 28,000 attracting artists, producers, students and animation fans from around the world. 2026 will be the 50th anniversary of the event. As Volunteer Coordinator, you will work with the OIAF Managing Director to recruit and manage 250+ returning and new volunteers who help run the Ottawa International Animation Festival.
Responsibilities:
Update the Festival’s online volunteer system to reflect the schedule.
Recruit new and returning volunteers through general communication, social marketing, postering, and school presentations.
Recruit Volunteer team leaders.
Process and evaluate volunteer applications.
Update volunteer material as required.
Create shift schedules for all volunteers.
Plan and host the volunteer appreciation event.
Any other assigned duties.
Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent communication and people skills (verbal and written)
Good organizational skills and initiative
Attention to detail and accuracy
Database skills are a plus (queries)
Good knowledge of Google / Microsoft suite applications and experience doing mail merges (or interested in learning).
Experience working in customer service
Strong computer skills: ability to quickly learn new programs/platforms and take initiative to troubleshoot

Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
2. A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
a. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
b. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
c. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours)
