August 27, 2013 — Ottawa Folk Festival organizers today announced that Gordon Lightfoot will be performing at the festival on Sunday, September 8 at 8 p.m. on the Raven Law Stage.
After 50 active years of hit song making and international album sales well into the multi-millions, it's safe to say that esteemed singer-songwriter and musician Gordon Lightfoot resides with some very exclusive company atop the list of all-time greats.
“This is a marquee booking—a first for the Ottawa Folk Festival,” says the festival’s artistic director Mark Monahan. “When people think of iconic Canadian acts, Gordon Lightfoot tops the list, not only in Canada, but internationally.”
Also added to the festival line-up is The Pack A.D., who cemented their place at the forefront of Canadian independent music on the back of dozens of glowing reviews and several award nominations. They offer a unique brand of tribal, blues- and punk-infected garage rock.
They’ll be performing on September 5, the same evening as Vampire Weekend. “This is an excellent fit for our younger audience . . . much as the addition of Gordon Lightfoot is for our more traditional patrons,” added Monahan
Monahan also confirmed that the option to ‘pick-three dates for $99’—which was very popular at the RBC Bluesfest—will also be available for Ottawa Folk Festival patrons.
Ticket note: There will be 200 reserved seats available for purchase, for the Gordon Lightfoot performance.
