“Everything has a crack in it. That’s where the light gets in.” – Leonard Cohen Cohen’s quote is the inspiration for a unique, home-grown, urban event: “Cracks – A festival of spirituality, art and social justice” held in Ottawa at Dominion Chalmers United Church November 7-8. Come just for the Jully Black and LeE HARVey OsMOND concerts or take in the full day of workshops focused on social justice, arts and spirituality as well as the massive worship service led by United Church Moderator Gary Paterson and acclaimed Jazz duo Peter Woods and Brian Browne. Whether you want to roll up your sleeves to make art, take in a panel conversation about social justice, meet an author, put on your sacred dance shoes, peruse art exhibits, or while away time in the chapel listening to local musicians – there is something for everyone. With multiple workshops happening simultaneously all day long, you can design a day that suits your interests and needs. Learn more about the lineup at www.cracksfestival.org. An economical event, each concert ticket is $40 (including HST) plus service charge. A festival pass which includes access to the full day of workshops, worship and both concerts is $90 (including HST) plus service charge.
