It’s been a great season for bike riding in Ottawa. Gorgeous weather, many cycling celebration events, and of course the enjoyment of the natural beauty of our city seen from the two-wheel perspective. We have organized a fall Bike Rally and are inviting you to explore Ottawa by bike with us in October. Ride in teams of 3-6 people along a route searching for the answers to quirky questions and discover new found cycling routes and interesting sights in Ottawa. It includes a fun day of exploring Ottawa by bike, a delicious banquet from the African Village Restaurant, live Marimba music from Zimbabwe, a silent auction, and prizes for all participants! The event is a fund raiser for Brighter Futures, a charity that empowers Eastern African communities by funding opportunities in education, health, livelihood training and bicycle transportation. All proceeds from the event will go to the charity and you can also raise funds for Brighter Futures online by collecting donations from friends and colleagues who are unable to ride on your team. The rally is rain or shine on Saturday, October 22 from 10:00am-2:30pm, starting at African Village Restaurant at 1356 Wellington Street West, Ottawa. The cycling portion is an easy ride, taking you along a 15km route on bike paths and low traffic volume streets. It will take about 2.5hrs depending on your skills at finding the clues! All you need is a roadworthy bike and a sense of adventure. Register online as a team,or as an individual and we will add you to a team for the rally. It’s just $40, which includes coffee or tea in the morning, a fun day of exploring Ottawa by bike, a delicious banquet from the African Village Restaurant, live Marimba music from Zimbabwe, a silent auction, and prizes for all participants! If you register a team of 4-6 people it is $35/person. Your family and friends who do not want to participate in the rally can join us at the banquet for $20.
