About the Role

The Centretown BIA is seeking a dynamic and community-focused Public Realm & Member Relations Coordinator to lead initiatives that enhance the district’s public spaces while building strong relationships with local businesses.

This role is hands-on and collaborative, working closely with the City, property owners, and community partners to deliver placemaking projects, support business needs, and help keep Centretown clean, vibrant, and welcoming.


Key Responsibilities

Public Realm & Placemaking

  • Coordinate public realm projects including murals, electrical box wraps, graffiti programs, tree lighting, and streetscape enhancements

  • Support public realm audits, mapping, and inventory tracking

  • Work with the City, engineers, and partners on infrastructure (e.g., electrical plans, poles, site improvements)

  • Lead placemaking initiatives such as Streets to Seats and vacant space activations

  • Support beautification efforts including florals, installations, and creative street elements

Community & Member Relations

  • Build strong relationships with BIA members, property owners, and stakeholders

  • Engage businesses and residents on public realm projects and local initiatives

  • Conduct outreach to new members and key organizations

  • Gather and maintain member data to support planning and advocacy

Operations, Cleanliness & Safety

  • Support district cleanliness programs, including the Centretown Sweep

  • Coordinate reporting tools (e.g., QR-based issue reporting) and track maintenance concerns

  • Liaise with City and bylaw on issues such as hoarding, safety, and public realm maintenance

  • Conduct regular site walk-throughs and support safety-related initiatives

Projects & Partnerships

  • Coordinate key sites and partnerships (e.g., Snider Plaza, development projects, public art)

  • Collaborate with City staff, developers, and community groups to advance initiatives

  • Participate in bi-weekly public realm meetings and support strategic planning

Reporting & Administration

  • Track project progress, collect data, and support reporting

  • Assist with budget planning for public realm initiatives

  • Prepare updates for internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Experience in community development, placemaking, urban planning, or a related field

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools

Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
