POSITION: CB5-Volunteer Coordinator Assistant - Chamberfest


CONTRACT TERM: 26 Weeks     ANTICIPATED START DATE: April 13,  2026   END DATE October 9, 2026

WORK SCHEDULE:  4 business days / 32 hours per week  WORK LOCATION:  Downtown


JOB SUMMARY: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see eligibility details below). Reporting to the Volunteer Coordinator Manager, assist in the recruiting, training, and managing the festival volunteers.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Has full knowledge and understanding of the organization’s purpose, goals and objectives;

  • Works with the volunteer manager in recruiting, screening, training and scheduling volunteers for a variety of positions at concert venues across Ottawa, Gatineau, the Outaouais region, and Almonte including: front of house management, ushers, production crew, and drivers

  • Support busy on-site volunteer schedule at various sites

  • Assist with volunteer database system management

  • Support on-site artist merchandise sales

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and support to the volunteers ensuring their professional development within a festival environment

  • Coordinates volunteer postering and distribution

  • Other duties as assigned and required.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good organizational and time management skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service experience; including problem-solving

  • Experience with or knowledge of databases and willingness to learn Chamberfest’s volunteer management software;

  • Skills in Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of PowerPoint

  • Concert and/or event management experience is an asset

  • Experience recruiting, training and managing volunteers would be an asset

  • Good verbal and written communication in English; French an asset

  • Additional language skills are an asset

  • Accessibility training is an asset or will be provided via AODA online training

Additional Qualifications Required:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:

  1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.

  2. A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.

  3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:

  4. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.

  5. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.

  6. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.

NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.


Remuneration:


$704 per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22 based on 4 days/32 hours).
