Position: HA2 –Social Media and Admin Assistant – HOPE Volleyball SummerFest
Desired Contract Length: 26 Weeks Anticipated Start Date: February 23, 2025. End Date: Term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 31, 2026. Desired additional weeks, ending August 21, 2026, is pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2025-2026) JCP program agreement.
Desired Contract Length: 4 business days / 30 hours per week Location: 406-1390 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa ON
Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see eligibility details below). Reporting to the Admin & Social Media Manager and working with the Executive Team, the Event Assistant will provide various social media, event and administrative support to H.O.P.E. Events, particularly HOPE Volleyball SummerFest on July 11th, 2026.
The Opportunity:
Works closely with the Executive Team to ensure smooth planning and execution of HOPE Volleyball SummerFest
Develops and curates content across social media platforms and HOPE website news page for all Event programming
Organizes and centralizes Event material; assists with production and distribution of public correspondence and post-Event reports as well as other documents such as vendor and charity applications
Writes, distributes, and publishes newsletters and blog posts
Assists with production and distribution of Team Kit packages including information, ballots, Event Guides and wristbands etc.
Coordinates with Executive Team on team prizing and vendor acquisition, and charity and sponsor correspondence
Other administrative tasks and related duties as assigned by the Admin & Social Media Manager
Skills and Qualifications:
At least one-year experience in Social Media Marketing (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube)
Related education and/or experience in an office environment in a similar role
Computer literate with strong and recent experience using Google Workspace as well as a strong understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel programs; Canva or other graphic/photo editing software
Ability to work under pressure and on various projects simultaneously and autonomously under clear deadlines
Strong written and oral communication skills in English; French is considered an asset
At least one-year experience with event management is considered an asset
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
A resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
Established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
Previously established an EI benefit period that ended within the previous 60 months.
Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 gross per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
