POSITION: DI2 - Social Media and Communications Assistant – Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival
CONTRACT TERM: 26 Weeks DESIRED START DATE: August 3, 2026 END DATE: after 26 weeks
WORK SCHEDULE: 4 business days / 32 hours per week WORK LOCATION: Hybrid & 2 Daly Ave. Office (2 days minimum)
SUMMARY: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). This position reports to the Festival Manager and supports the communications and social media of the Festival’s activities surrounding the annual festival.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Digi60 by attending Festival events and capturing live assets and collateral for social media, website, blogs, etc.
Responds to social media messages, reshares posts, engages with filmmakers and the community online, during live events and throughout the festival season.
Creates, maintains and executes elements to support the festival’s marketing and communications plan across all platforms including social media, website (blog) and podcast.
Creates collaborative outreach work plans with the festival’s partners and/or sponsors.
Pays close attention to and has a strong understanding of the festival brand and tone for communication plans, producing content that reflects the festivals’ priorities and community paying close attention to detail on social posts, design and all communications.
Brings creative concepts and ideas to meetings and supporting the team by pro-actively implementing notes and changes.
Assists in preparing newsletters, press releases and other communications as needed.
Changes priorities and communicates hurdles or challenges as they arise.
Working on special projects with the practicum students, Mentorship and Technical Directors and Festival Manager related to marketing or social media outreach.
Provides support and collaboration with Festival Assistant to make sure deadlines are being met, responses are received, and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Supports or works in conjunction with Festival Assistant as needed on collaborative tasks.
Other on-site event support during live events as needed, including set up, tear down, and live technical support.
Works with co-op students, festival volunteers and other staff as needed.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficient with Google Business Suite and project management tools (like Asana).
A people person who is positive, responsible, respectful, and enthusiastic;
Well-organized, works well under pressure and independently if needed, takes on projects simultaneously and autonomously;
Understanding and ability to work proficiently with Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn;
Excellent oral skills in English, French is highly desirable;
Knowledge of content creation and implementing social media/content plans;
Design skills asset; experience with Canva or Adobe Premiere a strong asset;
Experience in event management or the arts sector would be considered a strong asset;
Close attention to detail and able to own mistakes while communicating challenges;
Passionate about Ottawa’s independent filmmaking community an asset;
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
