The 19th annual Songs From the Heart songwriting competition is open for business! Songs From the Heart celebrates the craft of songwriting and showcases winning songs to the OCFF community. This contest is open to residents of the province of Ontario, Canada and the National Capital Region, as defined on this map. The Songs From the Heart competition is a juried process. A jury will select two grand prize winners: one English and one French. The winners will each receive a Galaxie Rising Stars Award of $1,000.00, and one registration for the OCFF conference in Mississauga, October 17 – 20, 2013. Prizes of $100.00 OCFF credit will be awarded to the winners of each of five sub-categories: Children’s, Humorous, Instrumental, Multicultural and Political. A separate jury, coordinated by the Ontario Arts Council, will select the winner of the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award from nominations put forward by the OCFF's Songs From the Heart competition jury. The winner of the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award receives $1,000.00 and registration for one person to the 2013 OCFF conference. All winning songwriters will be invited to showcase their winning songs at the 2013 OCFF conference. The deadline for submissions is May 3, 2013.
