RBC Bluesfest organizers have formed a partnership with ‘Youth Ottawa’, in an ongoing effort to further the careers of local talent. Youth Ottawa and RBC Bluesfest are proud to present two amazing opportunities for Ottawa area youth to showcase their artistic talents at the 2016 RBC Bluesfest. “We’ve always had an eye out for ways to encourage local musicians and artists to take the next step in their careers,” says RBC Bluesfest executive director Mark Monahan. “We’re very proud of the local acts we’ve been able to showcase at the festival over the years, and this partnership gives us an opportunity to expand on our Ottawa stable of artistic talent.” The first initiative will be known as 'The Road to RBC Bluesfest 2016', whereby 'youth' musical acts (under the age of 21 as of July 1, 2016) will vie for an opportunity to perform at this year's RBC Bluesfest.  A selection committee will determine the final bands that make the cut, by late-May. The second initiative, known as 'Youth Art at RBC Bluesfest 2016', will include three art installations from youth, which will be displayed on the RBC Bluesfest grounds. Finalists will be provided with $500-$1,000 to cover the costs to create their art installation, mentorship from a local artist prior to the event, and an opportunity to heighten their respective profiles through RBC Bluesfest exposure on-site and through social media. To apply for either opportunity, young up-and-coming acts and aspiring artists can go to: www.ottawabluesfest.ca/youth-ottawa/ or email any questions to Jason Collard at info@youthottawa.ca.  Application deadline is April 3, 2016.
