The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce that its 26th annual Fête Champêtre garden party will be hosted by H.E. Norihiro Okuda, Ambassador of Japan, at his official residence in Rockcliffe, on Thursday, June 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Ambassador and Mrs. Okuda will welcome guests to the event, along with OSO President Martha Hynna, Music Director David Currie and Honorary Fête Champêtre Chair, Barbara McInnes. “The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra is an integral part of cultural life in Ottawa”, said Ms. McInnes, “That is why I am
honoured to chair this event.”
Fête guests at this popular event will enjoy fine wines and delicious Japanese refreshments, prepared by the Embassy’s chef, as well as a performance of the samisen, a traditional Japanese string instrument by Ms. Ryoka Itabashi . A string trio of young OSO musicians will also entertain guests. The event is sponsored by Carling Mazda and Jaguar and Land Rover Ottawa. Tickets at $100 per person, with a partial tax receipt, are available from the OSO office by phone (613-231-7802 x 200) or by email at ticket@ottawasymphony.com.
Under Music Director David Currie, the 100-member OSO performs five concerts each season at the National Arts Centre and offers an educational program of free concerts for local schools.
