OTTAWA FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF IN STILETTOS AND SEQUINS

OTTAWA, ON – Ottawa Fashion insiders ushered in the 9th edition of Ottawa Fashion Week (OFW) The Loft on Elgin Street, Monday night. The Fall|Winter 2013 collections will be presented February 8, 9 and 10 at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Bruno Racine, Creative Director of OFW, warmly welcomed everyone with opening remarks and introduced Guy Laflamme, Senior Vice-President of Capital Experience and Official Residences, NCC. "The National Capital Commission is pleased to welcome Ottawa Fashion Week as part of Winterlude for a second consecutive year and to showcase Canadian fashion and designers", said Laflamme, "Winterlude is an integral part of winter in the region, and events such as Ottawa Fashion Week contribute to enrich the visitors' experience and enhance the Capital’s vibrancy." Designers in attendance included Frank Sukhoo (Sukhoo Sukhoo), Stefanie Gagnon (Sefani), Lorianne Hawdur and James Nesbitt (Bernice & Barclay) and Gwen Madiba (Dare). Guests enjoyed champagne, hors d'oeuvres and the spins of DJ Magnificent. Measha Brueggergosman, internationally acclaimed soprano arrived looking brilliant in an original from Magpie Designs, Toronto. Sarah Freemark of CTV Morning Live stepped out in a gleaming silver gown designed by Sukhoo, whom she will also be wearing as she walks in the UNICEF charity show on Sunday. Lois Lee of Rogers Daytime was on hand with co-host Derick Fage. No word yet on which designer will be dressing Brueggergosman or Lee for Sunday's show. Other Ottawa notables in attendance included: Max Keeping, at one of his first outings since his recent recovery, Leeanne Lacroix, Interior Designer and CTV contributer, Janet Wilson, Julie Beun, and Julie Best all from the Ottawa Citizen, Arief and Sonia Koller from Otto's BMW, OFW major sponsor, also Angie Seymour, owner of Angie's Models & Talent International and Sophie Beaudoin, Owner Models International Management, both longtime OFW partners. Tickets to the 3 day event can be purchased at capitaltickets.ca. Day passes include access to all designer shows (3 show blocks per night) and the boutique style marketplace for $45 (plus fees and taxes).
