  • Activities throughout the Gallery •

Certain to be one of the highlights of Ottawa’s 2017 celebrations, the National Gallery Soirée is an exciting full-evening event that explores and celebrates links between music and visual art. The last time we produced an event held throughout the entire National Gallery of Canada, it won

Partnership of the Year

at the Ottawa Tourism Awards. According to our surveys it was the most popular offering of the 2015 festival! For this year's Soirée, Music and Beyond will present over 150 short musical performances – all based on art. Performances will take place in locations throughout the National Gallery of Canada and musical programming will match the specific themes of the individual galleries. National Gallery docents will be available to discuss the galleries’ themes and will answer questions about the works of art that audiences will discover throughout the evening. The Soirée will also feature dance, photography, film, and a range of different activities. The evening will offer mini-concerts in over 30 locations throughout the Gallery, as well as a cool jazz combo in the Great Hall. A light food and beverage service will also be available. In the spirit of Canada’s 150th birthday, this very exciting evening will also celebrate the reopening of the newly transformed Canadian and Indigenous Galleries. The National Gallery Soirée will definitely be one of the summer’s great parties! Click here to get your tickets online for the National Gallery Soirée.
