Media Advisory: Angela Hewitt begins Ottawa performances of her Bach Odyssey
Hewitt to perform first two of twelve hometown concerts co-presented by Chamberfest, NACO Mar. 16 and 18
February 28, 2017
– Acclaimed pianist Angela Hewitt will begin a four-year journey through Johann Sebastian Bach’s keyboard works Mar. 16 and 18 at Ottawa Chamberfest.
In her only Canadian performances of a 12-part series whose presenters include London’s Wigmore Hall and New York City’s Kaufmann Concert Hall, Hewitt will perform every piece the ubiquitous German composer produced for the keys – from the most familiar to the sometimes forgotten.
Between the two concerts, Chamberfest will also host a master class with Hewitt on Mar. 17, featuring University of Ottawa piano students Yuyang Xie, Patrick Armstrong and Jason Fung.
Hewitt’s Bach Odyssey continues at the National Arts Centre this July, presented by the National Arts Centre Orchestra as part of Canada Scene.
Angela Hewitt: Bach Odyssey I and II are part of 2016-17 Chamberfest Concert Series, and presented in partnership with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Tickets are available online at chamberfest.com, by phone at 613-234-6306, or in person at 4 Florence St., Suite 201.
