Gatineau Park Celebrating 75 years: Open House this weekend kicks off anniversary activities

Gatineau Park is celebrating its 75th year! The National Capital Commission (NCC) invites the public to take this opportunity to discover, or rediscover, this national gem, minutes from the heart of downtown Ottawa-Gatineau. A host of activities will take place this summer to mark the 75th anniversary of Gatineau Park, beginning with an open house this weekend to launch the celebrations. OPEN HOUSE - Sunday, June 2, 9:30 am to 4 pm This open house event offers the chance for visitors to discover a whole new facet of Gatineau Park. Birds of prey demonstrations; nature interpretation walks for the whole family; interactive kiosks with biologists, conservation officers, search and rescue experts; and more! All activities are FREE; some require advance reservations. Activities at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre 33 Scott Road, Chelsea

  • Birds of Prey demonstrations (11:30 am and 3 pm)

PHOTO CONTEST
– launches Sunday!

What are people’s favorite spots in Gatineau Park or magical moments that they have captured in photo? Shutterbugs are invited to submit their best photos of the Park for a chance to win a variety of prizes. (Contest runs from June 2 to August 2) Ten finalists will win a gift basket, and their photo will be exhibited at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre. The grand prize winner will receive a Fuji digital camera, camera case and memory card, valued at $500, compliments of Centre Japonais de la Photo.
