Position: WS1 – Event Assistant – Wesley Clover Parks
Contract Length: 26 Weeks Start Date: June 5, 2023 End Date: After 26 weeks.
Work Schedule: Full Time – 4 business days per week (32 hours) Location: Hybrid Nepean office + home
Summary: Administratively supports the Community Events Manager and is tasked with other projects and duties that support the set up and execution of large-scale events that are held onsite.
The Opportunity:
- Assist with planning of onsite events – coordinate tasks with other departments.
- Respond to emails and inquiries regarding events held onsite.
- Assist with event management during events in conjunction with the Event, Equestrian & Operations Team.
- Assist the Program Manager: help prepare, process and file vendor and performer contracts.
- Determine food and beverage needs for each event and help negotiate with suppliers.
- Liaise with partners and supporters to ensure the sponsor requirements such as visibility, complimentary tickets, etc for each event are met.
- Assist with sending out marketing materials.
- Assist Events Manager in duties associated with planning larger long-term attractions coming to the site.
- Work alongside all members of the team to support during set-up and tear down of various events.
- Liaise with other event staff as necessary, support other related activities as needed.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Post-secondary education, ideally in a related field.
- Computer literate with recent experience using MS Office programs.
- Ability to work under pressure and on various projects simultaneously and autonomously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Previous event experience would be an asset.
ADDITIONAL QUALFICIATIONS REQUIRED:
Eligible to participate in Ontario’s Job Creation Partnership (JCP) program by meeting the following criteria:
1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week (part-time students and graduates may apply)
2. Live in Ontario
3. Legally authorized to work in Canada
4. Have one, or both, of the following criteria:
a. Established an Employment Insurance (EI) benefit claim (regular or maternity/parental benefits ONLY)
b. Paid EI premiums through payroll deductions, i.e., employed in Canada for at least five of any of the last ten years while earning an annual income in each year of at least $2000 (gross).
Remuneration:
$620 (gross) per week for 32 hours ($19.375 average per hour) provided by the Province of Ontario.
