Volunteer Ottawa COVID-19 Volunteer Manager Positions – 6 month contract

Length of Employment: 6 months

Start Date:  ASAP

Location:  remote work available

VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19. Volunteers are able to register for COVID-19 specific volunteering, including virtual volunteering, food delivery and transportation, and agencies are posting and/or sending VO their COVID-19 specific needs for volunteer matching. VO is looking for an experienced manager of volunteers to coordinate this COVID-19 volunteer recruitment and deployment effort on a 6 month contract to December 30, 2020. This position would work remotely.


1. Manage volunteer intake on-line
2. Maintain the volunteer database on-line
3. Manage, further develop and deliver health & safety training of volunteers
4. Respond to agency needs for volunteers
5. Manage volunteer deployment in the identified areas addressed by agency requests
6. Maintain and develop appropriate volunteer policies and protocols (ongoing as changes may be
7. Communications and outreach to community to recruit volunteers and to identify and intake
volunteer needs
8. Build reporting framework for funding agencies


  • 5+ years volunteer management experience – recruitment, screening, orientation, training,
    functional supervision
  • Knowledge of regional not-for profit and charity landscape an asset
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding volunteer/client interactions
  • Able to work remotely with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with software (Excel & Word) and comfortable accessing and managing online data
  • Be comfortable responding to volunteer/client concerns
