We aim to deepen awareness and encourage understanding through our bilingual performances, workshops, and artists-in-residence programs.

Job Description

MASC is a dynamic, mid-sized charitable organization that (for over 32 years!) has brought professional creatives from diverse cultural backgrounds into schools and communities. We aim to deepen awareness and encourage understanding through our bilingual performances, workshops, and artists-in-residence programs.

The MASC Bilingual Community Program Director will be responsible for MASC’s programming outside of schools. This includes programming in seniors’ venues, community centres, associations etc. In addition, the Community Program Director is responsible for MASC’s flagship community arts engagement program, Awesome Arts en folie, which brings together participants of all ages to explore issues important to their community through the arts, culminating in a community festival.

MASC is looking for an organized, creative and efficient person who believes in engaging communities through the arts – someone who enjoys working with diverse artists, dedicated community partners and a fun, dynamic team. This position requires enthusiasm, creativity, and initiative. The ideal candidate is able to work well in a team and on their own, often under pressure.

Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal skills in both French and English
• Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline(s) or equivalent work experience
• Minimum three years of professional project management experience with a strong track record of leadership through similar positions and/or freelance projects
• Experienced with Excel and managing complex budgets
• Experienced with databases (Filemaker Pro)
• Experienced with grant and report writing
• Knowledge of the Ottawa-region arts community

Bilingual Community Program Director Responsibilities

Awesome Arts en folie
• Manage all logistics, promotions, artistic programming, budget management, program and festival management of two Awesome Arts en folie programs per year. Each program consists of:
– 5 to 15 eight-week weekly residencies for participants of all ages
– Festival showcasing participant performances and creations as well as professional artist performances
• Development of new Awesome Arts en folie programs
• Partnership building
• Grant research, writing and report writing

Seniors
• Promotions to seniors’ venues (in partnership with Communications Director)
• Management of all bookings
• Partnership building
• Development of larger/longer-term projects with seniors’ venues
• Artistic programming
• Budget management
• Grant research, writing and report writing

Wider community
• Development of relationships with new community partners
• Management of all bookings
• Artistic programming
• Budget management
• Grant research, writing and report writing
