Position: AB2 – Community Events Assistant – Ottawa International Animation Festival

Contract Term: 26 Weeks            Start Date: ASAP               End Date:  After 26 Weeks

Work Schedule:  Full Time – 4 business days (32 hours per week)          Work Location:  Hybrid

Summary: The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the leading events of its kind in the world. It’s an annual five-day event with a total attendance of 28,000 attracting artists, producers, students and animation fans from around the world.  Do you love planning parties and events? Do you like to work with children and teens? This job is for you!  Working with the OIAF team, you will plan community outreach events for the Festival such as Animation Celebration for elementary school students, Teen Day @ OIAF for high school students, and a new for 2023 anime event at Animation Exposé.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with OIAF staff to secure venues, workshop leaders, and handle logistics for the OIAF community outreach events.
  • Determine volunteer and supply needs for each event and prepare.
  • Write and gather material for the Youth Programming section of the website
  • Liaise with educators and parents, arrange registration and field trip sign-ups
  • Liaise with Festival partners and supporters to ensure the requirements for each event are met.
  • In charge of volunteer team leaders and volunteers during each event.
  • Coordinate schedule and speakers or workshop leaders for community programming space at Animation Exposé.

  • Excellent communication and people skills (verbal and written)
  • Good organizational skills and initiative
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Eager to take on a leadership role
  • Experience working in customer service is an asset
  • Experience working with social media is an asset
  • Strong computer skills: ability to quickly learn new programs/platforms and take initiative to troubleshoot

Additional Qualifications Required:

Eligible to participate in Ontario’s Job Creation Partnership (JCP) program by meeting the following criteria:

  1. You are a resident, living in Ontario.
  2. You are not a full time student (part time students are eligible)
  3. You are not leaving employment to participate (working less than an average of 20 hrs/week is considered unemployed
  4. You also must meet, and provide documentation for, at least one of the following criteria:
  5. Previously established an Employment Insurance benefit claim (regular benefits within the last three years or maternity/parental within the last five years), OR
  6. Previously employed in Canada in any five of the last ten calendar years and earned income in excess of $2000 in each year,

Remuneration:

$19.375 ave. per hour for 32 hours per week – $620 (gross per week) provided by the Province of Ontario.
