Theatre Wakefield’s ninth annual TaDa! Performing Arts Festival takes place in beautiful Wakefield, Quebec, a stone’s throw from the Gatineau River and the trails of the Gatineau Park. Highlights
- Twin Flames –This dynamic duo have accumulated 41 music nominations and awards (and just won the 2023 Arctic Music Awards for Group of the Year). With their blend of Indigenous spirit flutes and traditional drums, western instruments and harmonies, their music has been variously labelled Indie rock, Synth rock, and Folk pop. Whatever you call it, these two give a great show!
- Mayfly – You will sniffle between her words, you will sigh heavily, your head may even droop. A single tear may roll down your cheek. THEN, you will laugh so hard you may start hiccoughing (or pee, depending on your age!) And so it goes. Catch Mayfly, a funny, silly, heartbreakingly sad yet somehow joyful piece of theatre that’ll knock your socks off!
- Jeremy Fisher – Once a regular at the Black Sheep Inn, Jeremy is back with a family show that includes a good dose of songs from his 20-plus year career as a musician as well as singalong songs from his hit CBC kids TV show Jeremy and Jazzy. Jeremy is a high-energy, super popular performer and his shows at the Black Sheep were legendary. Come hear his new one-man family show!
- Speaking Vibrations weaves the stories of four women together into a multi-media theatre piece. While poet Jo-Anne Bryan, who is Deaf, performs three of her works in American Song Language poetry and song, three other performers compliment Jo-Anne with contemporary dance, rhythmic tap, movement and voice. The most complex multi-media theatre piece we’ve ever presented!
