Event Date: Jun 5, 2020
Location: Byward Market, George St. Plaza
Held annually on the first Friday of June, Donut Day was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honour The Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies,” who served the treats to soldiers during World War I. The “Donut Lassies” are often credited with popularizing the donut in the United States when the troops returned home from war. The Salvation Army was on the frontlines of war and today we continue to be on the frontlines of poverty.
