Arboretum Arts Festival Announces 2013 Line-up!

[ Press Release]

Wednesday, May 15, 2013Ottawa – Arboretum Arts Festival, Ottawa’s boutique multi-disciplinary arts festival, is thrilled to announce our 2013 line-up and initial details.

Entering its 2nd year, Arboretum is inspired by progressive festivals around the world, and aims to provide a snapshot of Ottawa’s cultural renaissance.

Expanding to two days this year, musical highlights include inaugural Polaris-award winner Owen Pallett, local hero Jim Bryson, Toronto’s Holy Fuck and DIANA, Ottawa’s up-and-coming noise-wavers Roberta Bondar, Doldrums, Sarah Neufeld (of Arcade Fire), Halifax’s COUSINS, a local Ottawa hip-hop showcase, and more!

This year, the festival boasts two FREE components. The SAW Courtyard stage (home to a local showcase and children’s programming), and our new artisan craft sale at St. Alban’s Church, presented by Idle Hands Craft Sale will be open to the public without admission charge!

In addition to music, the capital’s thriving food scene gets its own stage with “Chef Sessions”, a concert-like line-up of the city’s forward-thinking chef’s, doling out small plates in 1-hour “sets”. Featured restaurants include Murray Street, town, Black Cat Bistro, Two six {ate}, Union 613, and more to be announce.

Taking care of festival goers hunger pangs throughout the weekend Strata wood-oven Pizza, Auntie Loos, vegetarian and vegan fare from Café My House, and Ottawa’s new Bootleg Porchetta Company.

Championing, progressive, local collaborations is at the heart of the festival’s mission. This year, our exclusive beer partner, Kichesippi Beer Co., brews us our own beer, the Arboretum Session Ale. Bridgehead presents a delicious, Single Farm Microlot coffee to be available exclusively at the festival. Other collaborations include programming from the Ottawa Art Gallery Kid’s Tent, Media Art projections curated by SAW Video’s Lesley Marshall, interactive installations, festival program designed by Herd Magazine, and much more.

The festival, expands into Waller Park this year, a downtown park space belonging to the city’s renowned and soon-to-be-redeveloped cultural hub, Arts Court. The historical St. Alban’s Church houses our late night programming as well as our craft sale and accompanying performing artists.
