Now in its 25th year, the OCFF conference is the key event for Ontario’s folk, roots, and traditional music community. Spanning four days and three nights, it’s a long weekend programmed to the hilt with provocative speakers, educational seminars, engaging roundtable discussions, informal meetings, performer showcases, and the best jam sessions outside of the festival circuit, all combining to make the OCFF conference an essential and inspiring experience for over 850 attendees (including artistic directors, presenters, and provincial, national, and international industry organizations).

3i Summit: Imagine – Interact – Inspire (2012 Dates TBD)

The 3i Summit 2011 draws on the life work, dreams and inspiration of dozens of Ottawa’s most dynamic innovators. Just like we did in the inaugural 3i Summit 2009, we will bring together a unique blend of world renowned architects, artists, Olympic athletes, poets, award winning professors, musical prodigies, homeless people, writers, youth activists. Each of them will be sharing, in 15 minute presentations, their passions, struggles and dreams for Ottawa in 2049 and one concrete action that can be taken to achieve that dream.

2012 FEO Conference Welcomes Social Media Guru as Keynote

(WOODSTOCK, ON) November 11, 2011 – Scott Stratten, president of UnMarketing, and a world expert in Viral, Social and Authentic Marketing, has been confirmed as the Opening Keynote Speaker for the Festivals & Events Ontario (FEO) 2012 Conference in Niagara Falls, scheduled for Thursday March 1 through Saturday March 3, 2012 at the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel & Conference Centre in Niagara Falls.
Presented by Niagara College, Stratten will deliver his keynote the morning of Friday, March 2, 2012, after the conference is already in progress. The conference gets underway by welcoming regular delegates the previous day at 1pm; a number of education and networking sessions are planned for that afternoon, followed by an opening welcome reception Thursday night. An additional, intensive, all-day educational session, featuring a world-renowned expert in their respective field, will also be available on a separate fee basis beginning at 8:30am Thursday morning.
Stratten is in demand as a speaker throughout the world and he has worked with organizations such as PepsiCo, Adobe, Red Cross, Cirque du Soleil, Fedelity Investments and, now, Festivals & Events Ontario. He now has over 100,000 people follow him on Twitter and was voted as one of the top influencers on the Twitter site, which has over 200 million users. His book “UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging” became a national best-seller before it was released, and recently became a Globe and Mail #1 Business best-seller and also a National Post, Amazon.com and Amazon UK best-seller.
United Way Sharing Our Strengths Community Conference
The last couple of days, Barb Stacey, Lee Dunbar and Tamer Mansey from the Ottawa Festivals staff participated in the United Way Sharing Our Strengths Community Conference in Ottawa.

- Conducting Organizational Capacity Assessments presented by United Way and Governing Solutions Consulting; and
- Working Better, Together: Sharing HR Services presented by HR Council for the Voluntary Non-profit Sector.
