Ottawa Festivals: What’s Going on This Week (July 8-15) 

We have a great lineup of festivals for you and the family to enjoy this week. Many of these festivals are carrying over from last week, along with the addition of a few new, fun-filled ones! Wherever your summer takes you there is plenty of fun to be had at Ottawa Festivals! 

Music and Beyond (July 4 – 17) 

This classical music and art festival continues this week with events and performances from Alexandre De Costa, and The Mozart Gala. But there’s much more than just music; you can watch dances, choral, opera and other amazing performances at multiple venues in downtown Ottawa. This festival highlights the importance and connection of music, art and dance in a memorable event that offers something for everyone!

Bluesfest (July 4 – 14)

Also continuing this week is RBC Bluesfest.  From now until the end of the week you can check out many exciting artists perform such as Snoop Dogg, The Backstreet Boys, and Logic. This huge, highly anticipated event is taking place in Lebreton Flats in downtown Ottawa. On top of all this fun, there are plenty of other onsite activities for your amusement, such as carnival games, a ferris wheel, a 50/50 raffle, The Fort, and multiple vendors!

Torchlight Shakespeare (July 2 – August 17) 

Want to see a Shakespeare classic in a park near you? A Company of Fools is touring over 35 parks in and around the Ottawa area this summer. These seasoned Shakespearians are performing Romeo and Juliet, the timeless tale of star crossed lovers. These shows are “pay what you can” in hope that everyone can have easy and equal access to their local theatre. Make sure to #getfestive this summer and check out one of these great performances!

Northern Lights (July 9 – August 17) 

Tired from all the festivities? Come take a break and watch the Northern Lights sound and light show! Demonstrating Canada’s stories through a magnificent light show, Northern Lights displays historical, cultural and physical landscapes with Parliament and Centre Block as the backdrop. This is a classic Ottawa event that is completely FREE and running all summer long.

HOPE Volleyball (July 13)

HOPE Volleyball is serving it up! HOPE or Helping Other People Everywhere, is Canada’s largest one day outdoor volleyball tournament that raises money for causes such as Youth Services Ottawa and Shelters Movers Ottawa.  It’s not too late to register a team and play some volleyball – all for a good cause. But, if volleyball isn’t your style, there are plenty of other events including performances by prominent artists such as Hollerado and The Beaches, vendors and much more!
