RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest presents George Thorogood & the Destroyers

For immediate release

OTTAWA, April 10, 2012 — RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest officials today confirmed that George Thorogood & The Destroyers will be performing on June 3rd at the C.E. Centre in Ottawa.

While many bands change sounds as the music scene evolves, George Thorogood & the Destroyers stay the course. They know who they are, and they’re out to tell the world about it. Faithful to their blues roots, they’ve continued to play the rough and ready sounds that draw from the influences of John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. Nearly 30 years of performing have been marked with hits that include Bad To The Bone, Move It On Over, Willie And The Hand Jive, and Thorogood’s famous live renditions of Who Do You Love?, Johnny B. Goode, Reelin’ And Rockin’, and St. Louis Blues. When the band rocks in concert, there’s a lively chemistry that’s instantly identifiable. If Thorogood’s signature guitar licks and trademark vocals seem infused with more passion than ever before, so too do the contributions of his stalwart rhythm section comprised of drummer Jeff Simon and bassist Bill Blough. Sax demon Buddy Leach blows like a hurricane, while guitarist Casey Carleton adds a crucial dynamic that reflects why he has become a permanent and valuable fixture with the Destroyers.

Thankfully George Thorogood is still going strong—as proven with his 2011 release, 2120 South Michigan Ave. George and his band have never made their debt to Chess Records a secret, so an album-length tribute to the home of Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and their many other influences is a logical move for the internationally acclaimed blues-rockers. This salute to the Chicago address of Chess Studios is so firmly within Thorogood’s wheelhouse that it translates sensationally to his live set—a live set that fans in Ottawa, both young and old, will have a chance to catch this June at the C.E Centre, 4899 Uplands Drive, near the Ottawa International Airport.

Tickets are available beginning Saturday, April 14 at capitaltickets.ca $48 (tax-in) + service fee
