TOURISM COUNCIL OF OTTAWA SPONSORING MAYORAL DEBATE ON OCTOBER 23RD TO DISCUSS IMPORTANT TOURISM ISSUES

Ottawa: The Tourism Council of Ottawa—a tourism umbrella organization—is organizing a mayoral debate to discuss key tourism issues in the City of Ottawa. The debate will be moderated by Janet Eastman, the host of Ottawa Citizen Business Television.
“Ottawa’s tourism sector, which includes transportation operators, restaurants, hotels, retailers, private sector attractions, government museums and galleries serves 7.5 million visitors each year in Ottawa,” explained Pat Kelly,the Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism at Algonquin College and the Chair of the Tourism Council of Ottawa. “Tourism is one of the three most important sectors of Ottawa’s economy along with the Federal Government and the high technology sector and as such, the Council felt is was appropriate to organize a mayoral debate to discuss issues relevant to our industry.”
The founding members of the Tourism Council of Ottawa include, Algonquin College, Byward Market BIA, Ottawa Tourism, Ottawa Gatineau Hotel Association, Ottawa Congress Centre, Ottawa Senators, Ottawa’s Countryside, Coventry Connections, Ontario Restaurant Hotel Motel Association – Ottawa Chapter and Ottawa Festivals.
