DESCRIPTION: Time To Put My Socks On follows Marc – a 30-something man with cerebral palsy – who is about to celebrate his first anniversary with his nondisabled partner, Linda. On one hand, he is bursting with excitement. He loves Linda! Linda loves him! She wants to move in! On the other hand, Marc is plagued with doubts. Is he happy enough with Linda to live with her? Can he really measure up to the standards of coupledom – maybe even marriage? Time To Put My Socks On revolves around the conflicts within Marc as he contemplates taking the plunge as a disabled man.

Alan Shain is one of Canada’s most celebrated disabled writers and performers. His performance disciplines include theatre, storytelling, dance and stand-up comedy. His career spans 20 years and he has to toured across North America, England, Australia – and in 2008, Taiwan! His shows are funny, angry, tender and always very real attaining national and international critical acclaim, including the Artistic Excellence Award from the City of Ottawa.
Michele Decottignies, Artistic Director of Stage Left Productions, is an award-winning Calgary-based playwright, producer, presenter, and director. She is also one of Calgary’s most accomplished Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) facilitators, having taking master training in Canada and the U.S. and used TO techniques in her arts-based community development and social justice practice, and in professional interdisciplinary artist-community collaboration, for over a decade now. She has written, produced, and directed over 200 plays winning numerous awards such as the Moondance Columbine Playwrighting Award, the Alliance Atlantis Award of Distinction, as well as being named by Alberta Playwrights’ Network as one of Alberta’s Top 100.
Nicole Dunbar is an exceptional emerging artist being the recipient of numerous awards/ nominations and scholarships for academic excellence, including the Donald Norman Balancing Acts Memorial Award, the Victor Mitchell Award, a Jason Lang Scholarship, and an International Student Centre Travel Bursary.
