OHS pleased to be a part of Ottawa’s 2010 Dragon Boat Race Festival
The Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) is pleased to be one of the local charities that will benefit from the Dragon Boat Race Festival in 2010. The OHS is one of seven not-for-profits set to share in the minimum $600,000 that will be raised by generous paddlers and their supporters next June.
“We were thrilled when we got the good news from the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation,” said OHS Executive Director, Bruce Roney. “The funding commitment will go a long way to helping us fund our human/animal-focused programs, such as Brightening Lives, Humane Education and LEAD (Leadership Education with Adolescents and Dogs).”
OHS volunteers will join hundreds of other helpers on site during the festival at Mooney’s Bay, from June 18–20, 2010.
“We work in and with the community each day, and to have our efforts recognized and supported by such an established event like the Dragon Boat Race Festival is a true honour for us,” said Roney. “We’re excited by the opportunities over the next few months, and we’re looking forward to helping make the 2010 race the most successful ever.”
