Investigators have ruled that freak weather alone was responsible for last year’s horrifying stage collapse at the Ottawa Bluesfest, the Citizen has learned.
Provincial government engineers were unable to find any evidence of “structural issues” that might have contributed to the collapse, a Ministry of Labour spokesman confirmed Friday.
Provincial Crown prosecutors have examined the engineers’ report, said the spokesman, and will not be laying any charges.
“The assumption is that it was due to a severe weather event — something that is very difficult to predict,” said the spokesman.
