Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest Public Service Announcement

What: Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest ‘Blues in the Schools’ (BITS) / ’Be in the Band’ (BITB) call for applications / expressions of interest, respectively . . .
When (BITS): Applications for the Ottawa Bluesfest’s Blues in the Schools program are now available on-line at the Ottawa Bluesfest website. This year’s BITS program runs from Monday, February 28 through Friday, March 11, 2011 in Ottawa-area schools.
When (BITB): Community organizers who are interested in knowing more about Bluesfest’s ‘Be in the Band’ program for 11- to 17-year-old Ottawa-area students are welcome to contact the Ottawa Bluesfest organization during the first semester of the 2010 school year (see contact info below).
The BITB program involves 10 – 12 weeks of professionally instructed rehearsals, provided by Bluesfest, with two sets of sessions; one starting in early January, ending with a community showcase in late March, while allowing for a week off for March Break; the second set of sessions begin after the March Break ending with a community showcase in late-May or early-June. Both programs lead to a possible performance opportunity at the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest.
