A chance to hear Handel’s Water Music actually performed on water does not come along every day, so if you’re near the Rideau Canal July 8, keep your ears tuned and watch for the floating musicians.

As part of this year’s Music and Beyond festival, running Wednesday to July 15, musicians will perform the piece as Handel meant it to be heard — on a boat, starting at 9:30 a.m. and travelling from Dow’s Lake to the National Arts Centre and back over two hours.

A journey of a different kind happens at Saint Brigid’s Centre July 13, when music lovers can hear all four Brahms symphonies in one night.
