This year’s Ottawa International Jazz Festival has a lineup to sing about

For reasons I’ve never fully understood, most people haven’t thought the Ottawa International Jazz Festival as exciting as Bluesfest.
Until now.
For as long as I’ve lived in Ottawa — 12 festival seasons — it seemed popular opinion of the Jazz Festival was that it was the “anti-Bluesfest” festival, meaning time spent at the Jazz Festival was an investment in musical snobbery with other uptight people pretentiously pretending to enjoy long-winded jams with barely a single recognizable note.
