More than 100 Canadian dancers and choreographers will be taking part in this year’s edition of the festival, which showcases the best and newest in contemporary Canadian dance.
The Festival opens June 8 with the world premiere of a new work by Alberta-born, New York-based Aszure Barton. A festival commission, Project XII is described as considering “the hard and the soft, the curved and the sharp memories of the feminine.” It will be performed by seven dancers and to an original score by Lev Zhurbin and Curtis Macdonald.
