CA2 – Market Place and Logistics Coordinator

This position is available through the Job Creation Partnership Program, offered in partnership with Employment Ontario. The Job Creation Partnership program is designed to provide those receiving Employment Insurance benefits (or those with reach back status) work experience opportunities needed to acquire more marketable skills to help them find future employment.

DURATION: 8 weeks with the possibility of extension to 26 Weeks            START DATE: February 2, 2015          END DATE: For set weeks

JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate and oversee the logistical needs of Market Place participants (i.e. embassies, cultural associations, artisans, vendors, exhibitors, and food concessionaires)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reporting to and working directly under the supervision of festival Director and in tandem with the Administrative and Community Liaison Coordinator, as well as the Volunteer Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research potential artisans, exhibitors, vendors and food concessionaires
  • Work closely with embassies for exhibits
  • Do regular follow-up work and communication with participating artisans, exhibitors, vendors and food concessionaires
  • Develop and update tailored information packages for artisans, exhibitors, vendors and food concessionaires
  • Develop contact information kits with relevant City of Ottawa departments (Health, Security, Special Events etc.) for participants
  • Support vendors, food concessionaires in their communication with relevant City of Ottawa contacts
  • Gather and organize on-site logistical needs of participants
  • Liaise with festival suppliers
  • Work with Administrative & Community Liaison Coordinator as well as Volunteer Coordinators
  • Execute all other duties associated with the job as assigned
  • Prepare project evaluation and report for 2015 with recommendations for 2016 festival edition

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have a High School diploma
  • Must possess some previous experience in managing a team of people or organizations that have diverse and unique needs or other related area of work
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in a team
  • Must have good oral and written skills in English and French
  • Must be able to work under pressure and on various projects simultaneously while meeting stringent deadlines
  • Must demonstrate interest and experience in working with cultural organizations and artists
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft, WordPerfect, Excel, etc.)
