POSITION: CB1 – Box Office Assistant I

This position is available through the Ontario Job Creation Partnership Program (OJCP). The OJCP program is designed to provide work experience opportunities to those who have established an Employment Insurance (regular) benefit claim within the last three years, or to those that established a maternity/parental leave Employment Insurance claim within the last five years and are returning to the workforce. This is a temporary 30 hour per week position.

START DATE: March 5, 2018

END DATE: Approved to government fiscal year end March 31, 2018 with the possibility to be approved the full 26 weeks pending Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year JCP application and approval from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

Desired end date: August 31, 2018

JOB SUMMARY: Assists with box office sales, ticket printing, distribution, tracking and cash receipts

REPORTING:  Box Office Manager


  • Tracking sales, and collecting unused tickets and receipts
  • Processing telephone and mail order ticket sales
  • Preparing sales reports
  • Assisting in box office procedure organization and implementation for the summer festival
  • Preparing and reconciling bank deposits and credit card sales
  • Answering telephones, redirecting calls, maintaining voicemail system, and responding to inquiries
  • Directing incoming mail; handling outgoing mail and courier
  • Updating and maintaining general administrative files and front desk instructions and protocols
  • Coordinating in-office merchandize sales
  • Additional duties as required


  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Skilled in Excel, knowledge of Word
  • Detail oriented, team player
  • Cash handling and customer service experience an asset
  • Accessibility Training is an asset
  • Bilingualism is a strong asset
