POSITION: TA5 – Communications Coordinator – Job Creation Partnership (JCP) Employment Program

This position is available through the Ontario Job Creation Partnership Program (OJCP), offered in partnership with Employment Ontario. The OJCP program is designed to provide work experience opportunities to those who have received regular Employment Insurance benefits within the last three years, or to those that received maternity/parental leave Employment Insurance benefits within the last five years. DESIRED CONTRACT LENGTH: 26 weeks

START DATE: January 8, 2018

END DATE:  Approved to government fiscal year end March 31, 2018 with the possibility to be approved the full 26 weeks pending Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year JCP application and approval from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development; Desired end date: July 6, 2018

JOB SUMMARY: Implementation and coordination of the Festival`s marketing campaign;

REPORTING: This position reports to the Marketing Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work within festival’s theme to help plan, develop and implement a marketing plan promoting the festival
  • Collaborate on the development and support the implementation of the festival’s marketing plan
  • Utilize and define new strategies to ensure festival message and online branding is clear
  • Maintain the festival’s website:
  • Liaise with website developer to ensure that analytics tools are in place
  • Liaise with the festival’s marketing agency and translation resources to ensure website graphics and copy are updated and aligned on both French and English pages
  • Coordinate electronic mailing lists and collaborate with agency to curate content for e-blasts, social media posts, blogs
  • Assist with implementation of media plan:
  • Liaise with the festival’s marketing agency, media outlets and printers to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Maintain a database with contact names, publication, advertising deadlines, and specifications
  • Liaise with creative agency to develop and maintain a schedule of collateral and advertising deliverables, specifications, deadlines, and traffics artwork as appropriate
  • Prepare media kits, press releases, post event reports etc.
  • Assist in market research as needed
  • Assist with onsite delivery and oversite of media relations, social media, photography and videography resources
  • Work closely and collaboration with all staff and key Festival partners
  • Adhere to various festival policies and guidelines

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the organization’s purpose, goals, and objectives
  • Experience with Excel, PPT and MS word and/ or Google equivalent platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Educational background in one of the following: marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism
  • Works well under pressure
  • Team Player
  • Self-motivated
  • Flexibility
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • WordPress experience is an asset
  • Graphic Design Skills is an asset
