4 PAID INTERNSHIPS FOR ITS 2018-2019 PRODUCTIONS

ABOUT THÉÂTRE LA CATAPULTE 

Théâtre la Catapulte is a company that creates, produces and presents professional French theatre. Located in Ottawa, its’ productions target both adult and teen audiences and are presented at La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins, where they are one of the four founding members. The company also tours its productions in theatres and schools across Canada.

INTERNSHIPS

Théâtre la Catapulte has a mandate to support the emerging generation of artists in the Ottawa region. This season, thanks to a grant from the Ottawa Community Foundation, Théâtre la Catapulte has the opportunity to offer paid internships to young artists who have recently graduated, or will do so shortly, and who have the desire to gain professional experience in their field. For the company, this is a golden opportunity to discover new talents and encourage emerging artists to stay in the region to practice their trade.

 

1. INTERNSHIP IN TOURING SET MANAGEMENT

Required skills:
Minimum 2 years training or experience in stagecraft

Experience with assembly and strike of a stage set

Experience in scenic painting an asset

Licence G2 or G (or equivalent) an asset

Tasks:

Assist the stage manager and technical director with set load in on tour.

Under the supervision of the stage manager and technical direction, do minor set repairs if necessary.

Dates of contract:

October 7, October 20-22 (Montreal), November 3 (Montreal) and November 6 to 8 (Kingston) 2018

 

2. INTERNSHIP IN TOUR LIGHTNING  

Required skills:
Minimum 2 years training or experience in stagecraft.

Experience assembling a decor and doing focus of a theatre lighting plan

Experience in programming with an ETC console an asset

Experience with QLab an asset

Licence G2 or G (or equivalent) an asset

Tasks:

Assist the lightning designer and technical direction with lighting load in

Under the supervision of the technical direction, assist with the lighting focus

With the assistance of the stage manager and the technical direction, check cues in each venue

Dates of contract:

October 7, October 20-22 (Montreal), November 3 (Montreal) and November 6 to 8 (Kingston) 2018

 

3. INTERNSHIP IN STAGE SOUND

Required skills:
Minimum 2 years training or experience in stagecraft.

Experience with wireless microphones (RF) and theatre sound systems

Experience with QLab, Mainstage and audio cards an asset

Licence G2 or G (or equivalent) an asset

Tasks:

Assist the sound designer and technical direction with the assembly of the sound kit

Under the supervision of the technical direction, check sound levels

 Dates of contract:

October 7, October 20-22 (Montreal), November 3 (Montreal) and November 6 to 8 (Kingston) 2018

 

4. INTERNSHIP IN TOURING STAGE MANAGER 

Required skills:
Minimum 2 years training or experience in stagecraft.

Experience with assembly and strike of a stage set

Experience with load in, focus and strike of stage lighting

General knowledge of DMX protocols

Licence G2 or G (or equivalent) an asset

Experience driving a truck an asset

Tasks:

Under the supervision of the tour manager, preperation of the touring kit

With help of the stage manager, lighting load in, focus and strike.

Under the supervision of the technical direction, verify lighting cues

Dates of contract:

November 28 to 30 and December 3 and 4 (Montreal) 2018
