RAISING THE TEMPERATURE AT THE WRITERS FESTIVAL
The Ottawa International Writers Festival opens its Fall Edition on October 20 with a literary double-header: Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Cunningham followed by the 10th Annual ReLit Awards. The Festival concludes on October 26th with a special evening of stories set in and around the Mayfair Theatre in Old Ottawa South. But even when the Festival concludes on October 26, there’s one more event to look forward to: a special appearance by Andrea Levy, who is shortlisted for the Booker Prize. “Andrea Levy couldn’t make it in the spring when her flight was cancelled due to the volcano, and we were determined to get her here this fall,” says Founding Director Neil Wilson. “So even though she could only make it here the day after the Festival concludes, we went for it. We’re looking at her event on the 27th as a bit of a bonus for passholders and Members.” Read more

Festival X SlideLuck PotShow

Looking for an opportunity to show your work at Festival X? Look no further!
Slideshow presentations are a maximum of 5 minutes each, but most are much shorter, and we recommend between 15-40 images. We accept work in digital format only. When presenting photographs, there are many ways to go about it. We strongly encourage you to create narratives, combine live music, speaking, or even performing with images. We want to see good work, but it need not be safe. Show us work in progress, outtakes from a job, or if that makes you uneasy, show us your absolute finest work – because we like that too.
All submissions for SLPS Ottawa must be received by Monday, September 20th, 2010
