By Tony Lofaro, Ottawa Citizen
Capital Hoedown organizers have submitted a draft plan to the City of Ottawa detailing how they will move the tens of thousands of pedestrians and motorists expected to descend on a Kanata park for the three-day music festival in August.
The plan includes details on transit options for the site, traffic management surrounding the park area, a schedule of festival events and the stage setup at Walter Baker Park, where country superstars such as Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley and Reba McEntire are scheduled to perform.
It’s the first time the festival will be held there and nearby residents and soccer groups have expressed concern about traffic and damage to parkland. The 2011 Hoedown, held at LeBreton Flats, attracted 47,000 fans.

Dreams come true.
That was the message delivered by Erin Shannon, a seven-year veteran of the Ottawa Fire Department, at the International Women’s Week event hosted by Kanata South Coun. Allan Hubley on March 7.
