Tourism spending is up nearly 8.5 percent in Ottawa for the first two months of 2012 compared to January and February of last year.
Ottawa Tourism CEO Noel Buckley points out that there’s been a lot of big events to start the year.
“We had the [NHL] All-Star Game in January, we had the Liberal Convention in January, we had the Junos, we’ve got a government that’s sitting,” Buckley tells CFRA. “There’s good, stable business on the meeting side, on the leisure side, on the convention side, on the sport events side.”
