Tim Hortons supporting the troops via Winterlude visitors

ARNPRIOR -A donation by the town will go a long way to improving the morale of area soldiers who are away from their families.
On Monday morning, Arnprior Mayor Terry Gibeau and Tim Hortons owners Peter and Christopher McCluskey handed over 600 $5 gift cards to CFB/ASU Petawawa Base Commander Lt.-Col. Keith Rudderham in a show of support for the men and women of the Canadian military and their loved ones. The town initially planned to donate 400 cards, each one individually signed with a message from Arnprior, then the store jumped on board and donated an additional 200 cards.
The base’s Deployment Support Centre will be the holder of the cards, which will be distributed to families of soldiers who are away from home, whether it be on exercise preparing for deployment, in Haiti, on course in Borden or overseas, explained Chico Traclet, officer commanding of the Deployment Support Centre, who was also on hand for Monday’s presentation.
The first families to benefit from the cards will be those taking part in a trip to Winterlude in Ottawa. Each person on the trip will receive a card and the plan is for the bus to stop in Arnprior on the way to Ottawa.
